A proposal to create and link biomanufacturing hubs across New England is a finalist in a billion-dollar initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan Act — and Rhode Island could be in line for a bite of the apple.
BioConnects New England, a concept led by Northeastern University in Boston, has been named a finalist in the Biden administration’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge. The cluster-based economic development approach would aim to boost and maintain U.S. global leadership in the life sciences. The cluster would consist of connected biomanufacturing hubs stretching from Augusta, Maine to Kingston, Rhode Island.
